cultural legacy that embraces both the East and West.

Cyprus |
You will find great variety on
Cyprus - for example you can witness artisan crafts still made
according to ancient traditions, and yet just a short distance away
you can visit some of the most sophisticated cities in the
region. Sporting activities are many, you can wind surf,
sail, snorkel and even snow-ski in some areas. Try dropping into
quaint village inns, or join the locals at the town market, and you
will soon experience the warmth and friendliness of the Cypriots.
Although Greek is the official language of Southern Cyprus, you
will often find English is spoken, especially in the more touristy
areas, where people tend to concentrate their search for property
to buy in Cyprus. The way of life in Cyrpus has changed little
for centuries, and the many visitors are attracted to this
beautiful island year after year with the thought to relax and
enjoy life.
The island was divided in 1974,
and the southern part has become a flourishing holiday haven. It
has become easier to buy property here since Cyprus joined the EU
earlier in 2004. 2005 saw property prices increasing by around
20-30%. You will still find some agents that will sell
property within Northen Cyprus which is under Turkish Rule
although many say that this is not such a dependable way to
buy property in Cyprus.
The cost of living in Southern
Cyprus is generally lower than in for example the UK, and
this together with the climate makes the area a popular choice for
holiday homes, retirement or moving to permanently for the British.

Some of the main areas of Southern
Cyprus are:-
Pafos
Pafos was the capital of Cyrpus for nearly 800 years, and according
to legend was reputedly the birthplace of the Greek Goddess of
Love, Aphrodite - Petra tou Romiou, or Aphrodite's Rock, is a
massive chunk of stone that marks the spot.
Pafos (Paphos)is renowned for it's rich cultural heritage, and the
continual archaeological discoveries in this area make it a
highlight for those tracking civilization's root in Cyprus. To have
a glimpse of the artefacts found in the area a visit to the
District Archeological Museum is a must. Pafos is the destination
for visitors wishing to combine sightseeing with all the pleasures
of first class hotels, water sports, golf, bowling, tennis and
shopping. You will also find one of the two main island airports in
Paphos.
Larnaca
The town centre of Larnaca is about a ten minute drive from the
main airport. One of Larnaka's most distinctive features is the
mid-town seaside promenade lined with tall palm trees, and a sandy
beach front. The promenade, which is named Finikoudes in Greek, is
home to many lively bars and restaurants as well as shops which
sell the local specialities such as basketwork, lace and jewellery
as well as copperware. To the rear of the promenade is a 17th
century fort, which as well as being a museum also houses many
musicals. Nearby is the Larnaca Marina, which is one of the few
shelters for yachts within the island. The salt lake near the
airport is also a major attraction, and in the winter the lake's
shallow expanse of seawater is a favourite haunt for migratory
birds, especially the Pink Flamingo. In the summer months the lake
is dry.
