Bansko is a "mountain resort for all seasons". Not only does it offer fantastic skiing in the winter months, but during the other months there are many, many activities on offer. Bansko is located uniquely in a valley which is surrounded by three mountains; Pirin, Rila and Rodophe and as such it offers a milder climate during the spring and summer months - with temperatures reaching over 35 degrees. Bansko is certainly recognised as the up and coming ski resort of Bulgaria.  With the high peaks of the mountains Bansko is also able to offer a long ski season, and with snow cannons covering most of the slopes, the ski season to usually runs from mid-December to mid-may. The ski pistes are situated in two main ski centres - Chalin Valog (1100-1600m) and Shiligarnika (1700-2500m). and you will find runs to suit all abilities, both the learner and the more experienced skier.

Bansko has the river Glasne running through it's centre, and has an irrestibile combination of natural breathtaking views, and the atmosphere of an ancient Bulgarian town, with old style taverns(locally called Mehanas), where you can usually find live folk music being played, and pubs alongside more modern shops, restaurants,and bars.

It is not only a mountain resort, but a thoroughly beautiful place to stay. There are many festivals here in Bankso at various times of the year. Around 120 cultural and historical monuments can be found in Bansko, there are remains from an ancient fortress just a few km's outside Bansko. Also the Pirin National Park is included in the UNESCO list for cultural and natural sightseeing. The park has lakes, waterfalls, caves, and historical sites. Bansko is also famous for its mineral springs.
